Friendship

Acquaintance will bloom into friendship with time,
But what's the point of trying to cultivate friendship,
When nothing will grow?
Not many plants will take root on sand,
Most plants' roots aren't deep enough,
They are blown away with the ever changing wind,
What plant will grow if you neglect to water it?
What friendship will last if left unattended for too long?
Most friendships don't seem to last at all,
I know this and yet I still try in vain,
To sow seeds of friendship that will survive,
Unaffected by wind and rain.
